Job Description
The Adair County SB40 Developmental Disability Board is now accepting applications for the Youth Employment Program. An energetic, experienced, organized, person-centered, and team-oriented teacher is needed to support adolescents who are 16-18 years of age (or through the end of high school) and have intellectual/developmental disabilities. This is a temporary summer position. The Youth Employment Program will run daily, Monday-Friday, 8:45AM-3:15PM, July 11th-15th for students age 16-18. The position includes prior planning for the week of the program.
The Program Skills Teacher is responsible for coordinating and teaching lessons and skills throughout the program including job exploration, employment skills, life skills, and social skills related to employment. Duties will also include, but are not limited to: planning, leading all skills and activities, supervising Program Counselors, driving students to required locations, etc.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Special Education or related field
At lest 21 years of age or older
Current CPR certification
Current 1st Aid certification
Class E driver's license or ability to obtain before May 23rd
Experience in curriculum development and implementation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with and supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
Previous experience working with youth summer programs/camps
Experience in a management position or supervision of staff
