Job Description
The Adair County SB40 Developmental Disability Board is now accepting applications for the Youth Employment Program. Energetic, experienced, organized, person-centered, and team-oriented staff are needed to support adolescents who are 16-18 years of age (or through the end of high school) and have intellectual/developmental disabilities. The number of counselors hired will be dependent upon the enrollment of youth. These are temporary summer positions. The Youth Employment Program will run daily, Monday-Friday, 8:45AM-3:15PM, July 11th-15th for students age 16-18. Training dates prior to the 15th will be announced at a later date.
Program Counselors are responsible for providing continuous staffing and support to adolescents with developmental/intellectual disabilities participating in the Youth Employment Program. Duties many include, but are not limited to: modeling appropriate behavior and social skills, job coaching, assisting the Program Skills Teacher with the implementation of curriculum and activities, and assisting individuals with participation in all program activities.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 18 years of age or older
Reliable transportation to work
Current CPR certification
Current 1st Aid certification
Responsible
Detail oriented
Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with and supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
Previous experience working with youth summer programs/camps
Some college education
